Walking in the Alpujarra was a delightful experience. We
stayed in Meson Poqueira in Capileira at a hieght of
4700ft, so it was pleasantly cool.
Much of the walking was on mule tracks which are
spectacular, built into almost sheer rock faces zig
zagging for ever.
On one walk was part way up
Mulhacen above the snow line, two
skiers past us as we plodded uphill.
The mist kept rolling in as we
descended down to an Alpine type hut
for some late lunch followed by a
long walk back to Capileira.
During the first week we took a trip
into Granada to visit Alhambra
Palace, very impressive indeed.
At the beginning of April there was plenty of flowers blooming and wildlife to be seen, I managed
to photograph the Swallow tailed butterfly after crawling about a bit during a lunch stop. Shortly
after we saw a flock of Bee Eaters circling overhead.
