Leave the station car park at the south corner up a set of steps, go left steeply uphill passing restored Law castle, continue round the farm then keep right on the rough tarmac road which climbs along the front (west side) of Law hill with great views over the town and Clyde Estuary.
After the road levels take the footpath on the right down a line of trees to the road go a few metres right then left through a gate into a field, climb straight up the field to another gate and up a rocky slope to the left, go directly to the summit of Tarbert hill and admire the fabulous 360deg view.
Go south 150m to a gate through the gate turn right and go downhill to a track marked by whin and trees, turn right down the track cross a bridge over the railway and right at the road for 250m then left down a good footpath to the main A78.
Cross straight over the main road past the old mill and onto the beach, turn right along the beach with wonderfull views across to Arran and along the beach to Fort Hill.
If the tide is low you may be lucky enough to see seals on the rocks offshore and along the shoreline if you are early there are many birds
The short option crosses the golf course after half a kilometre, on the far side after a short track go left along a pleasant lane and right on the road at the far end.
The medium option crosses the golf course a further half kilometre beyond where the short walk crosses.
The long option goes round the end of the golf course.
All the walk options return up the road (B7048) over the crossroads up to the town, at the roundabout go down St Bride Rd back to the station.
