Arran from the beach

Meadowhead and the beach

Distance 9km climb 80m graded moderate
and shown by red squares on the map.

Leave the station car park at the south corner up a set of steps, go left steeply uphill passing restored Law castle, continue round the farm then keep right on the rough tarmac road which climbs along the front (west side) of Law hill with great views over the town and Clyde Estuary.
After the road levels take the footpath on the right down a line of trees to the road go left along the road and right on a public footpath through Meadowhead farm to the beach road in 2km.
Go straight over the main road onto the beach away from the traffic and turn right along the beach with a lovely view of Arran.
Walk along the sandy bay away from the road, then follow the sandy narrow path along the coastline to the old mill where you should go out to the main road.
Go left along the main road, the old mill can be seen on the left, cross the road, turning right (150m) into Glenbride rd, climb to the top of the road and descend into the Glen, follow this track out to the town centre and right back to the station.

This walk can easily be extended down the beach walks adding up to 3km to the distance but keeping the beautiful view that bit longer.
