Leave the station car park by the left exit down Main street, in 100m go left through the iron arch into the Glen, go through the park past the football park going right across the burn and left along the path through the trees to the end of the Glen then downhill to the main ardrossan road, cross left past the old mill and onto the beach, go right along the beach with wonderfull views across to Arran and along the beach to Fort Hill.
If the tide is low you may be lucky enough to see seals on the rocks offshore and along the shoreline if you are early there are many birds to be seen.
Leave the beach at the end of the golf cousre turn left along the road to Portencross castle and harbour a lovely spot to take a little break and
some photograghs.
Continue on along the shoreline below the cliffs onto the road, in summer many wild flowers will be seen along this short section of track and roadside.
At the high grey metal power station fence leave the road along the fence, following the fence along to the semi ruined Goldenberry farm onto the road, pass Goldenberry cottage on a left bend, 300m right bend and at the top of the slight hill in a further 200m leave the road through a gate on the right, climb up a good track with trees on the left.
The track goes to the top of Goldenberry with absolutely fabulous views of the islands and north to the highland hills, stop for a while and enjoy the scenery.
When leaving go through the gate beside the trig point and descend Goldenberry on the good track back to the beach.
Follow the road (B7048) back to West Kilbride, straight on to the roundabout and taking St Brides Rd back to the station.
